About Raul Hernandez

Hello my name is Raul Hernandez it's a pleasure to meet you all! I am a recently retired U.S. Navy veteran that was for and raised in Texas all my life. I am 29 years old so yes like some of the young people describe me i am an "ancient relic" trying to better his career and finishing school at this stage. So let me tell you a bit more about myself then.

Some of my interests are traveling around the world, going out to eat and trying new places, and lastly it would be your introvert things like binge watching shows, gaming and video editing. When it come to pet peeves i don't have many but some very noticeable ones are people who talk with their mouth open or chew their for loudly. Other pet peeves are those who to jump to conclusions and assuming the information is correct without verifying for themselves.

My goals would be to finish school with a GPA above 3.4 and obtaining my bachelor's degree in Information Technology. Once, i completed those short term goals my next step would be to start my own IT company and become financially stable i order to retire before reaching 50 years of age. I can't say I'm unique but a lot of people always complimented my work ethic and how of an overachiever i tend to become. For me i was always taught that if I'm going to be good at something i should always strive to giving it me 110%.

  1. Hi Raul! I’m Sheila, also a student at GCC—it’s great to meet you. Your intro was awesome to read, and I really admire your drive and work ethic. “Ancient relic” made me laugh a little, but honestly, your goals and experience are anything but outdated. Starting your own IT company and retiring before 50? That’s seriously inspiring!

Thank you so much for your service. I can’t imagine being away from family for long periods, and I truly admire your strength and dedication. Joining the force isn't easy—so major respect for making it through and still pushing forward with new goals! I also relate to the introvert hobbies—binge-watching and gaming are definitely part of my recharge routine too.
Wishing you all the best with your degree and future plans. You’ve got the mindset to make it all happen!

  2. Hi Raul! I think its very admirable to pursue a degree later in life. Even though my break from school was only 4 years, I think it's still a cool thing to jump back into. I think you have very strong and smart goals. I think you can achieve them! Especially if everyone says you're a hardworking person.

I have to agree with your pet peeve of people jumping to conclusions. It's so easy to avoid, you just need to communicate! It's not that hard. You know what they say about assuming...

I love that you're a native texan. I have some Texas roots too! My mom was born and raised in Houston and we still have family there and go to visit every couple years. My favorite Texas trip was when I was 9 and we went to South Padre Island. Have you ever been?
